If you’re looking for a fast, scalable hosting provider for your business or website, then you’re right to be interested in Node.js! Now, the question is: which Node.js hosting option to choose?
Bluehost is our winning choice for Node.js hosting – it’s our top-rated web host overall, and its VPS and dedicated hosting plans offer strong features, such as unlimited bandwidth and WordPress integration. HostGator sits just behind with its impressive site speed and support, and Hostinger rounds out our top three with its extremely affordable plans.
But these are just three of the seven hosting providers we want to discuss – we’ll cover each provider in-depth, as well as offer alternatives that didn’t quite make the cut.

1. Bluehost
Because Node.js hosting involves custom coding, you’ll need a hosting plan with root server access in order to support it. For that reason, most of the providers we’re discussing only offer Node.js hosting on their VPS and dedicated plans, Bluehost included. While Bluehost didn’t excel in our site speed and uptime testing, which isn’t ideal when selling online, Bluehost is one of the best hosting providers on the market thanks to its prices and features, such as security and storage space.
Bluehost Plans and Pricing
Bluehost is one of the best hosting providers on the market, meaning it’s a strong and flexible option for any type of website. Its VPS and dedicated hosting plans support Node.js hosting, but we’d recommend its VPS plans if you’re after a cheaper option. However, Bluehost’s dedicated plans come with greater storage – let’s take a closer look to find the right fit for you:
Bluehost VPS Hosting
Bluehost has three VPS plans, ranging from $24.99-89.82 per month (billed annually). These offer storage capabilities ranging from 120-240 GB and unlimited bandwidth. Bluehost’s VPS features are generous, and they also offer a more affordable place to start if you know you’d eventually like to scale up to a dedicated plan.
Bluehost Dedicated Hosting
Bluehost’s dedicated plans range from $99.97-149.98 per month (billed annually). Dedicated plans are more expensive, because all of the server’s resources are, well, dedicated to your site. Storage on Bluehost’s dedicated plans ranges from to 1 TB to 2 TB, accompanied by unmetered bandwidth.
If you want Node.js to support a larger business site or ecommerce store, we think Bluehost’s dedicated plans are worth the money! You get scalable features for a relatively low price point – not only is it the second cheapest option after InMotion’s dedicated hosting plans (which start at $89.99 per month, billed yearly), but offering dedicated hosting for less than $100 per month is noteworthy!
Bluehost Security
If you’re using Node.js, you’re probably excited to customize your code, and get your hands dirty when it comes to your website. That’s why we’re putting each hosting provider’s security features under the spotlight here – so that you can make sure your hard work is kept safe.
Bluehost’s security features include:
- Free SSL certificate
- Secure Shell access
- Spam Assassin protection
Like any hosting provider, Bluehost also offers advanced security options that you can pay extra for, but we think you’ll be well taken care of with Bluehost’s free security measures.

2. HostGator
When you sign up for a VPS or dedicated plan, HostGator can install Node.js modules on your behalf, making it easy to get set up with. You can request this via phone or live chat, and HostGator’s support team will take it from there – in fact, HostGator is one of the best hosting providers if you’re looking for dependable help and support.
Save 75% On Shared Hosting
HostGator is giving you 75% off its shared hosting plans, plus one year free domain registration. Don’t miss out!
HostGator Plans and Pricing
HostGator is one of the best Node.js hosting options out there, and users can select between any of its VPS and dedicated hosting plans to get started. You get plenty of extras with HostGator’s dedicated plans, including additional storage, memory, and cores. However, both the VPS and dedicated plans offer root access and unmetered bandwidth, so if you’re just starting out, we’d recommend HostGator’s VPS plans for its cheaper pricing. Down the line, if you need further power, you can upgrade!
HostGator VPS Hosting
HostGator’s three VPS plans range from $23.95-59.95 per month (billed annually), making it slightly more affordable than Bluehost. HostGator’s plans include the following features:
- 120-240 GB disk space
- Unmetered bandwidth
- 2-8 GB RAM
HostGator also uses several bandwidth providers to ensure maximum server reliability, so you can rest assured that your site will remain accessible to visitors.
HostGator Dedicated Hosting
HostGator’s dedicated plans range from $109.97-159.98 per month, for a 12-month term. The cheapest dedicated plan gives you 8 GB RAM and unmetered bandwidth, which is ideal for sites that generate a lot of traffic. The most expensive plan, in comparison, provides 30 GB RAM.
HostGator Security
Like most providers, HostGator includes a free SSL certificate with every plan. Even better, HostGator’s data centers enable flood protection to keep your server safe from DDoS attacks.
If you want to go the extra mile, you can also pay for HostGator’s SiteLock security add-on, which starts at $2.99 per month (billed annually). SiteLock security scans your site for harmful code (or anything else that doesn’t belong), and offers automated malware removal in response.

3. Hostinger
Hostinger only supports Node.js hosting on its VPS plans, and with four different VPS plans to choose from, you’ll be able to customize your plan to your specific website needs. When it comes to features, you’ll be able to choose between four different storage, memory, and bandwidth amounts as you see fit. The only downside to this customization is that Hostinger doesn’t offer dedicated hosting, so if you anticipate a lot of growth in your website’s near future, then this isn’t the most scalable option.
Hostinger Plans and Pricing
As mentioned, Node.js hosting is only compatible with Hostinger’s VPS hosting plans. Hostinger is the most affordable VPS hosting option on this list, but if you run a large-scale business, you might struggle without the opportunity to jump to a dedicated hosting plan. Let’s take a closer look!
Hostinger VPS Hosting
Hostinger has four different VPS plans, and its 12-month prices range from $5.99-$21.99 per month – this makes Hostinger the cheapest option on the list when it comes to VPS hosting. But bear in mind that these are introductory fees! After your initial term, the cheapest plan will increase to $12.99 per month.
Hostinger’s VPS plans are also unmanaged, meaning you’ll be responsible for everything inside the server, while Hostinger handles the physical servers, backend, and general uptime and speed. While unmanaged hosting plans might be appealing for some, it is extra work and we wouldn’t recommend it for total beginners.
The plans are labelled by the amount of Central Processing Unit (CPU) power given to the server, and you can see its 12-month fees below:
- KVM 1: $5.99 per month
- KVM 2: $7.99 per month
- KVM 4: $12.99 per month
- KVM 8: $21.99 per month
On these four plans, features range between:
- 4-32 GB RAM
- 50-400 GB storage space
- 1-8 TB bandwidth
Hostinger also offers NVMe SSD across its VPS hosting plans, providing you with incredible processing power and fast response times. In comparison, HostGator only offers standard SSD on its VPS plans.
With Hostinger, you won’t be in danger of having to settle for a plan with slightly more or less resources than you need! Even though Hostinger doesn’t offer dedicated hosting plans, it does extend its VPS plan features further than its competitors. For example, Bluehost and HostGator’s VPS plans go up to 240 GB of storage, while Hostinger reaches 400 GB.
Because of this, if you’re looking for scalability without the price point of dedicated hosting, then Hostinger could be a good option for you.
Hostinger Security
Once you get set up with your hosting plan, Hostinger offers unlimited SSL certificates for free. And, unlike its competitors which usually offer a certificate for free during the first year, Hostinger renews all certificates automatically and at no extra cost to the user. Hostinger also provides built-in DDoS protection, as well as weekly backups across every VPS plan, so you’ll be able to restore your site quickly if there’s an issue.
One security feature that’s unique to Hostinger is its AI-powered firewall, using the machine to monitor network traffic and activity and evolving with time, keeping website’s safe from harmful attacks.

4. InMotion
We know you’re here to find the best Node.js hosting option, but it can be hard to find trustworthy information about getting started. Since it all comes down to custom coding, there’s no definitive playbook. While none of the providers on this list has a specific knowledge base just for Node.js hosting, InMotion’s support team has made sure to answer every question they get on the subject with helpful information.
We also have to give InMotion credit for its impressive security features (which we’ll discuss later) because this makes it an ideal choice for small businesses or online stores that need to keep customer data safe from harm.
InMotion Plans and Pricing
In our list of the best Node.js hosting providers, InMotion takes fourth place. It offers affordable VPS and dedicated hosting plans, and if you’re just starting out, we recommend InMotion’s VPS plans. Not only are these a cheaper option, but there’s plenty of room to grow without switching to dedicated hosting. Let’s take a closer look at the two hosting types:
InMotion VPS Hosting
InMotion offers seven VPS plans, ranging from $14.99-74.99 per month for a 12-month subscription, putting it at a similar price point as DreamHost. InMotion’s VPS plans include the following features:
- 90-540 GB storage
- 2 TB-unlimited bandwidth
- 4-32 GB RAM
These seven plans also come with free site migrations, and secure email access from any device. And, like Hostinger, InMotion’s VPS plans use NVMe SSD, keeping it a step ahead of those that only offer SSD.
InMotion Dedicated Hosting
Like its VPS plans, InMotion offers seven dedicated hosting plans (with cPanel). These range from $89.99-$739.99 per month for a 12-month term.
InMotion’s cheapest dedicated plan includes 1 TB SSD, 16 GB RAM, and one dedicated IP address. To compare, InMotion’s most expensive plan – the CC-3000, which costs $739.99 per month (billed yearly) – includes 2×3.2 TB NVMe SSD, 512 GB RAM, and 30 dedicated IP addresses. That’s a wider range than most of the providers we’ll cover, and it means that there’s plenty of room to scale your website up if you need to!
InMotion Security
In addition to free SSL, InMotion supplies your website with Secure Shell access and HotLink protection. HotLink protection blocks access to other websites that hotlink to your content, preventing users from stealing your bandwidth.
DDoS attack protection is also provided for free through the network security company Corero, while InMotion also supports email with Real-Time Spam Filtering.

5. DreamHost
DreamHost offers Node.js hosting on its shared, VPS, and dedicated plans. The features included on its VPS servers are pretty impressive, too! For example, every DreamHost VPS plan offers unlimited traffic, which means that DreamHost doesn’t track bandwidth or traffic, so you won’t have to worry about overage fees. And, according to our research, DreamHost is one of the best hosting providers for site speed, so visitors can depend on your site’s usability!
DreamHost Plans and Pricing
DreamHost is the only provider on this list which supports Node.js hosting across its shared, VPS, and dedicated hosting plans. We recommend DreamHost as an affordable alternative to other high-quality providers, such as Bluehost.
DreamHost Shared Hosting
DreamHost has two shared hosting plans to choose between, and for a 12-month subscription, they both cost $2.95 per month! This is a great introductory deal, but just note that if you opt for the higher plan (Shared Unlimited), the price will differ with a three year contract or once the initial term is complete. However, both plans include unlimited traffic and unmetered bandwidth, so it’s a real bargain either way.
That being said, DreamHost’s shared plans won’t be a scalable option long-term if you have a larger site, even with the generous features on offer. If you’re on a budget or running a small site, it’s a good starting point, but we’d advise a VPS hosting plan if you don’t want to feel too limited.
DreamHost VPS Hosting
DreamHost offers four different VPS plans, ranging from $13.75-$110 per month for a 12-month term. Aside from unlimited traffic, the cheapest VPS plan also includes:
- 30 GB SSD storage
- 1 GB RAM
- Unlimited email
This is a great starting point for VPS hosting! And, if you were to scale up to the Enterprise VPS plan at $110 per month (billed annually), you’d get unlimited emails, plus 240 GB SSD storage and 8 GB RAM.
However, we do want to mention that the above VPS hosting plans are managed and don’t offer root access. For this, you’ll need to look into DreamHost’s cloud servers before committing to a plan.
DreamHost Dedicated Hosting
DreamHost offers two dedicated plans which you can configure to your needs: Standard and Enhanced. The Standard plan starts at $149 per month (billed yearly), and includes:
- 4-core processor
- 4 GB RAM
- 1 TB HDD
On the other hand, the Enhanced plan starts at $279 per month (billed yearly), and includes:
- 12-core processor
- 16 GB RAM
- 2 TB HDD
Now, you can tweak these two plans to suit your needs, increasing the Standard or Enhanced’s storage, cores, and memory. Depending on your chosen settings, the Enhanced plan’s price can reach $399 per month. This includes a 12-core processor, 64 GB RAM, and 2 TB HDD or 240 GB SSD. This gives you a lot of flexibility to create a hosting plan that suits your business or website perfectly.
DreamHost Security
DreamHost plans include the free SSL certificate that we’ve come to expect, plus the following free features:
- Malware remover
- Domain privacy
- mod_security web application firewall for apache
- lua-resty-waf web application firewall for nginx
Web application firewalls filter, monitor, and block traffic to and from a web application, and protect your server from attacks.

6. A2 Hosting
Since most hosting providers can only accommodate Node.js hosting on VPS and dedicated servers, starting prices for the majority of hosting providers on this list are typical for these types of plans. But A2 Hosting only offers Node.js on its shared hosting plans. This makes A2 Hosting an affordable option, but a limited one, since a shared server won’t give you the same level of control that a VPS or a dedicated server can.
A2 Hosting Plans and Pricing
When looking at the best Node.js hosting providers, A2 Hosting is pretty unique in that it offers shared hosting as opposed to the usual VPS or dedicated hosting plans. This makes it a very budget-friendly option for smaller businesses, but you’ll struggle to scale your website without VPS or dedicated hosting plans.
A2 Hosting Shared Hosting
A2 Hosting offers Node.js on three of its four shared plans: the Drive plan, the Turbo Boost plan, and the Turbo Max plan. The Drive plan starts at $5.99 per month (for a 12-month term), and includes unlimited SSD storage, unlimited email accounts, and unlimited websites.
The Turbo Boost plan starts at $6.99 per month (for a 12-month term), and includes all of the above, plus enhanced speed (hence the “turbo”) and fewer users on the same server. The Turbo Max plan is the most advanced option at $14.99 per month (for a 12-month term), promising faster service and five times more resources than its basic plan.
You may have noticed that the features we’ve discussed here look different from the features that other Node.js hosts offer – where are the mentions of RAM and bandwidth? Well, because A2’s Node.js hosting is done on its shared servers, you get less say in exactly how much resource is allocated to your site specifically.
Unfortunately, this is the value-for-money tradeoff of a shared hosting plan. A2 Hosting is very suitable for small sites, but bear in mind that long-term scalability is limited because you can’t upgrade to a VPS or dedicated hosting plan. DreamHost, on the other hand, gives you the opportunity to jump from shared to VPS to dedicated hosting.
A2 Hosting Security
If security is your number one priority, then you can’t go wrong with A2 Hosting. Its in-house Perpetual Security initiative goes above and beyond to keep your site safe, and includes:
- HackScan protection
- Dual hosting firewall
- Server hardening
- Reinforced DDoS attack protection
And all of this support comes free with an A2 hosting plan!

7. HostPapa
HostPapa is another one of the rare providers that offers Node.js hosting on shared plans. HostPapa strikes a good balance between the customization that you need to write your own Node.js code, and the ease of use that you’d expect from a shared server.
HostPapa Plans and Pricing
For HostPapa, we’ll focus on its shared hosting plans since these are compatible with Node.js hosting. Let’s take a closer look:
HostPapa Shared Hosting
HostPapa offers four shared plans that are optimized for Node.js – Start, Plus, Pro, and Ultra. The plans range from $4.95-14.95 per month for a 12-month subscription. The plan names perfectly sum up who each plan is best for: beginners, small businesses, growing businesses, and medium-sized businesses. If you’re hosting a website for a large business or an ecommerce store, though, you’ll be better off choosing a Node.js hosting provider with VPS and dedicated options, such as Bluehost.
The Start plan is cheapest at $4.95 per month (billed annually), and includes free domain registration, 100 GB SSD storage, and unmetered bandwidth.
HostPapa Security
HostPapa offers strong shared hosting on all three of its plans, but it’s not until you upgrade to the Pro plan that you get your money’s worth in terms of security. While all three shared plans include DDoS attack prevention, ModSecurity, and SSL, the Pro plan also offers:
- Domain Privacy protection
- Premium WildCard SSL certificate
- SiteLock Detect
If you’d like to use these bulleted features on the Start or Plus shared plans, you’ll have to pay extra fees. When we explored HostPapa’s checkout page, it also became clear that some features are only available for the first year, which will hike up renewal prices. On the Pro plan, for example, the Wildcard SSL certificate is free for a year but will then cost $109.99 per year afterwards, and automated website backups will also cost $47.99 per year after the first year. So, we recommend carefully reading through the checkout page before proceeding!
It’s worth noting that compared to other hosting providers, paying extra for advanced security isn’t unusual – you’ll often pay extra for using security features no matter which host you choose.

Does Anyone Else Support Node.js Hosting?
While we’ve determined that the providers ranked above are the best Node.js hosting providers, there are more Node.js hosting options than just the seven listed here. There are a few popular providers out there that didn’t quite make the cut – and we’ll explain why.
AWS (Amazon Web Services)
Amazon Web Services, or AWS, is a cloud platform which hosts on virtual space, rather than a physical server. For a lot of people, cloud hosting is attractive because you don’t have to pay for fixed amounts of resources at the time of purchase – instead, you only have to pay for the storage space that you actually end up using.
That being said, AWS is a subsidiary of Amazon, not a born-and-bred web hosting company. For that reason, we think most website owners will be better taken care of with an established hosting provider.
Azure
Azure is another cloud computing service, this one created by Microsoft. The service is optimized for Node.js hosting, with tools like Visual Studio Code to help you deploy Node.js code to Azure.
Azure didn’t make our list of the top seven Node.js hosting providers, because while it’s loaded with features, its ease of use is not on par with competitors. To use Azure for Node.js hosting, you’ll also need to get comfortable with a ton of other Microsoft tools, which can quickly become a bigger task than you bargained for.

7 Best Node.js Hosting Providers
All of these web hosts will do a good job for your site. But to choose the host that will do a great job, consider what you value the most.
