Magento starting price: $2.75/month
One-click Magento installation? Yes
Money-back guarantee? Yes: 45 days

HostGator is second only to Bluehost in our overall hosting rankings, and it earns the number one spot specifically for Magento hosting. HostGator’s Magento hosting on its shared, enterprise, reseller, and cloud plans is compatible through version 2.0, while Magento hosting on VPS and dedicated plans is available through version 2.1.
HostGator scored an impressive 4.3/5 in our research for features, which is a pretty important category: 32% of users we surveyed named ‘features’ as the most important element when choosing a new hosting provider.
Plans and Pricing
HostGator offers Magento hosting on its shared plans, which start at $2.75/month. However, we’re going to focus on HostGator’s VPS plans for Magento hosting, since most ecommerce stores will benefit from the extra power and security of VPS.
HostGator offers three VPS plans:
- Snappy 2000 – starts at $19.95/month
- Snappy 4000 – starts at $29.95/month
- Snappy 8000 – starts at $39.95/month
All three plans come with two IP addresses. As the cheapest option, the Snappy 2000 plan offers 2GB RAM, 120GB disk space, and 1.5TB bandwidth. On the pricier end of the spectrum, the Snappy 8000 plan offers 8GB RAM, 240GB disk space, and 3TB bandwidth.
Security
HostGator’s VPS security features include a free IP table firewall, centralized DDoS protection, and a secured VPS firewall, so you can rest assured that your site is in good hands.
Even on shared plans, HostGator offers a free SSL certificate and flood protection against DDoS attacks. If you’re especially concerned about security, you can also purchase HostGator’s SiteLock security add-on from $1.99/month, which can scan your site for harmful code and respond with automatic malware removal.

SiteGround
Best for affordable Magento plans
Key Features
Magento starting price: $6.99/month
One-click Magento installation? Yes
Money-back guarantee? Yes: 30 days
24/7 phone support? Yes
SiteGround offers great customer service, security, and WordPress support on its hosting plans. Like InMotion, SiteGround provides automatic Magento installation through Softaculous – but with SiteGround, it’s free!
Affordable pricing was the reason why 46% of users we surveyed decided to look for a new hosting provider, and SiteGround’s Magento plans don’t disappoint – especially with introductory discounts included.
While SiteGround’s Magento hosting prices aren’t the cheapest on this list (although they’re close!), this provider earns the title of “most affordable” because of its consistently low prices paired with its reliable features.
Plans and Pricing
SiteGround offers Magento hosting on its three shared plans:
- StartUp – starts at $6.99/month
- GrowBig – starts at $9.99/month
- GoGeek – starts at $14.99/month
It’s true that shared plans are the cheapest type of hosting, but they also come with the least amount of resources, since you’ll literally be “sharing” a server’s resources with other websites. Keep in mind that introductory prices will jump after the first year or so. For example, SiteGround’s StartUp plan is $6.99/month for the first year, after which it renews at the full price of $14.99/month.
Meanwhile, GrowBig is $9.99/month for the first year, and renews at $24.99/month. GoGeek is $14.99/month for the first year, but renews at $39.99/month.
The StartUp plan includes 10GB storage space, enough bandwidth for ~10,000 monthly site visits, and free daily backups. If you choose to upgrade to the GoGeek plan, you’ll get 30GB storage space, bandwidth for ~100,000 monthly visits, and SiteGround’s in-house SuperCacher plugin to improve speed.
Security
SiteGround plans come with a free SSL certificate, plus 24/7 server monitoring. SiteGround also runs an Intrusion Prevention System that disables access for any IP address caught trying to bruteforce your passwords.

GoDaddy
Best for flexibility
Key Features
Magento starting price: $19.99/month
One-click Magento installation? Yes
Money-back guarantee? No
24/7 phone support? Yes
GoDaddy Hosting isn’t the cheapest provider on the market, but its unusually wide range of features makes it well worth the money. GoDaddy offers Magento hosting on its shared, Business, and VPS plans. We’re going to focus on GoDaddy’s Business plan, because it functions as a unique middle ground between shared and VPS hosting, combining the power of VPS with the simplicity of a shared server.
GoDaddy scored well in our research for features, including generous amounts of storage and bandwidth.
Plans and Pricing
GoDaddy offers four Business plans, all of which come with unmetered traffic and unlimited websites. The cheapest Business plan is the Launch plan at $19.99/month, which offers 60GB storage, 2GB RAM, and 1 CPU core. You can easily host multiple basic sites on the Launch plan.
The priciest option is the Expand plan at $59.99/month, which comes with 150GB storage, 8GB RAM, and 4 CPU cores. Expand is a good fit for photography or resource-heavy sites.
Security
GoDaddy includes 24/7 security monitoring and free DDoS attack protection on all of its plans, and GoDaddy’s Business plans all include a standard SSL certificate for free.
In addition to its hosting plans, GoDaddy also offers separate website security packages that are worth looking into. The cheapest is the Essential package, which “monitors, alerts, and cleans your site.” However, GoDaddy recommends the Deluxe package at $15.99/month, which offers speed boosts and advanced protection.
Personally, we recommend starting with the standard security features that come free with your hosting plan, then upgrading to a security package if you feel like you need it!

24/7 phone support? No, but 24/7 live chat provided
Hostinger’s Magento plans offer the latest MySQL updates, and a multi-tier Litespeed cache layer to help your ecommerce store handle as many requests as possible. Cart performance is clearly a top priority for this European hosting provider.
Hostinger manages to score well for features while still offering affordable plans – no small feat!
Plans and Pricing
Hostinger offers Magento hosting on its cloud hosting plans, which all include unlimited websites, unlimited bandwidth, and one free domain name. There are three different cloud plans to choose from:
- Cloud Startup – starts at $7.45/month
- Cloud Professional – starts at $14.95/month
- Cloud Global – starts at $37.00/month
The Cloud Startup plan offers 100GB SSD storage, 3GB RAM, and 2 CPU cores, while the pricier Cloud Global plan offers 200GB SSD storage, 16GB RAM, and 8 CPU cores.
Security
Hostinger offers a free SSL certificate on all of its cloud hosting plans, plus Cloudflare protected nameservers and advanced security modules. Hostinger has also enabled two-factor authentication for its users, meaning you can use both your email address and phone number to identify yourself as the owner of your account. This may seem like a small feature, or even a nuisance, but it’s worth the extra time – especially for ecommerce sites, where security is paramount!

HostPapa scores well for disk space and types of hosting, and its VPS plans offer a scalable amount of resources.
Plans and Pricing
Magento hosting on HostPapa’s shared plans starts at $2.75/month, but we’re going to focus on its VPS plans because of the increased resources and security they offer for ecommerce sites.
HostPapa offers 5 different VPS plans:
- Mercury – starting at $19.99/month
- Venus – starting at $59.99/month
- Earth – starting at $109.99/month
- Mars – starting at $169.99/month
- Jupiter – starting at $249.99/month
As the cheapest plan, Mercury offers 4 CPU cores, 2GB memory, and 60GB SSD storage. In the middle of the pack, Earth offers 8 CPU cores, 8GB memory, and 250GB SSD storage. If you scale all the way up to the Jupiter plan, you’ll get 12 CPU cores, 32GB memory, and 1TB SSD storage.
